You dirty dog

Only David Carpenter would have a dog this attracted to dirt. I let him out for 15 minutes. When I tried to go out the gate, he jumped on me and I screamed bloody murder.

Hello, is it me you're looking for?

Okay, I know everyone is just dying to talk to me when I'm in Nepal (check out the zack morris). There is a 12 hour time difference, so remember, when it's 6pm here, It's 6am there. I have elected to buy a phone number for my computer. You can call this number and reach me where ever I am and you're cell phone will think it's calling a Northwest Arkansas number. My skype phone number is (479) 439-1519. It's active now. There is a small delay when I talk to you, but it cost $12 for 3 months unlimited, as opposed to $ 10 a minute in Nepal. You can reach me whenever I'm signed in. I also have voicemail. Also, if you want to see my smiling face, my skype account is chandle.devor. You can sign up (it's free) and talk computer to computer.

Happy Earth Day

I haven't been writing very much, but I've been REALLY busy with school. This morning I saw a bird on tv from Australia. The bird made the sound it's supposed to make, then made the sound of a siren, then made the sound of a buzz saw. It made me cry. So in honor of that bird, here's some things you can do to reduce you're impact on the Earth:

  • There's a huge Earth Day fair at the Clinton Library tomorrow. From 4-6 you can clean up the river.
  • If every household in the U.S. replaced a burned-out bulb with an energy-efficient, ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent bulb, the cumulative effect is enormous. It would prevent greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to that from nearly 800,000 cars. It would also save enough energy to light 2.5 million homes for a year.
  • Defrost your freezer. It will run more efficiently and save your household money.
  • Unplug the chargers and save money. Reduce your electricity bill by unplugging chargers for your cell phone, digital camera, and MP3 player.
  • Turn off the water between shampooing and conditioning your hair. A simple turn of the knob can save up to 50 gallons of water a week.
  • Use recycled paper. Every ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, and the energy equivalent of 380 gallons of oil.
  • You can reduce the volume of your trash by 80% simply by collapsing packaging, and composting organic waste.
  • Turning off un-used electronic devices could save you about $300 a year.
  • The simplest way to save the most water: place a bottle filled with sand in your toilet's water tank. Save water each time you flush.
  • Protect our natural resources by turning off the tap when brushing your teeth. It saves you 5 gallons of water every minute.
  • Cook your food faster and cheaper. Put a lid on your cooking pots to reduce the energy used by up to 30%.
  • Recycle your junk mail

And the award for crazy goes to.....

Remember that picture of Virginia that we would all go look at to laugh? The one with her and Vanessa at the party. I think I have found a replacement. David took this on top of the water tower in Jacksonville. He was trying to keep his eyes open, but he was struck with WHITE BLINDNESS!!!!!!!!!

Just call me Ed McMahon

Today, I got to tag along with the little rock education foundation to hand out money to teachers who have written outstanding innovative grants for creative projects. It was REALLY fun. Here is a link to the video on THV, you can see my khaki pants and new green purse behind the head of a cute child towards the end. click here for the story

Spring break is over :(

David bought an iMac yesterday. Here is a picture from the built in camera. It is really sweet with a 20 inch screen. I LOOOOVE it. Playing with it for awhile might even convert me over to the hip side.... the apple side. The mac boy is a lot cuter than the PC guy.
This week was nice. I got to forget that I'm a student and be an aunt, girlfriend and daughter. I must say, it was nice. I also got to play David's brother, Michael's Wii. I am down with the technology. I am also very bad at Wii boxing..... and probably real boxing. I leave for Nepal in 50 days. I did a little reading, and it turns out it will be the monsoon season the entire time I'm there. I need to remember to pack my "leech oil". Yes, I said leech oil.....yuck.
